e-MPIRE (e-Managed Processes for an Integrated Revenue Enterprise System)
e-MPIRE is intended to replace all of the Department’s
major tax processing systems currently in use with a new, custom designed and
integrated tax system. The system will be broad in scope and will provide a
single, robust architecture for capturing, storing and retrieving data regarding
taxpayer identification, returns processing, taxpayer accounting, revenue
accounting, case management and taxpayer correspondence.
System characteristics include:
- A single shared database
- A common browser-based interface
- A single logon
- Online real-time processing capabilities
- Ability to run all transactions offline in batch mode
- Automated workflow and tracking
Business objectives include:
- Capture of additional data for use in compliance,
enforcement, audit, analysis, customer service and reporting
- Improvement of customer service and compliance by
providing consolidated views of taxpayer accounts
- Streamlined processing to enhance management and
financial reporting
- Upgraded system flexibility and maintainability
- Reduced use of paper to decrease costs, improve record
accessibility and protect the environment
- Improved receivables management and collection
capabilities
- Increase the number of up-front compliance checks
