| Strategic Plan |
The Department of Taxation and Finance has developed a multi-year plan to enhance the level of the service it provides. The Department's Strategic Plan is a roadmap for continuous improvement and the means by which the Department benchmarks its progress in implementing Governor Pataki's goal of creating a government without walls that is accessible by the citizens of the Empire State 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our Strategic Plan focuses on “cutting edge” management strategies that empower our employees to make the critical decisions necessary to meet taxpayers’ needs. In conjunction with the expanded flexibility given to our employees, the Department has restructured its operations to maximize the effective use of our resources and is making significant investments in state-of-the-art technology.
Even with all of the revolutionary changes we have adopted, the most important resource we have for improving our services is perhaps the oldest - the willingness to listen to a taxpayer's concerns and needs. To this end we have made it easier to communicate with us and receive timely updates on Department developments.
During calendar years 2001 and 2002 the Department of Taxation and Finance introduced the following services through its Strategic Plan initiative:
